Get your apps and devices working in Windows 8.1
Most apps and devices created for earlier versions of Windows will work on Windows 8.1. However, if you run into compatibility problems with an app or device, there are several things you can try.
Look for solutions in Action Center
The Action Center in Windows 8.1 can alert you to variety of problems, from updates or drivers you need to install, to settings that need changing.
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.) - Enter action center in the search box, and then tap or click Action Center.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Check the Window Compatibility Center
Go online to the Compatibility Center for Windows 8.1 to find out if your device or app is compatible with Windows 8.1.
Run an app in compatibility mode for a previous version of Windows
If you're having trouble running an app that worked in a previous version of Windows, you might be able to run it in compatibility mode. For more info, go to Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows
